im oktober erscheint das box-set »loving the alien (1983–1988)«, der vierte teil der großen david-bowie-reihe. ein highlight ist eine neue ausgabe des 1987er-albums »never let me down«, die komplett überarbeitet, neu instrumentiert und arrangiert wurde. dabei unterstützten bowies langjährige mitstreiter reeves gabrels (gitarre), david torn (gitarre), sterling campbell (drums), tim lefebvre (bass) sowie ein streichquartett mit arrangements von nico muhly. mit »zeroes (2018)« gibt es jetzt bereits einen besonderen vorgeschmack: eine limitierte doppel-a-seite auf einer 7”-picture-disc. neben der neuen version von »zeroes« wartet darauf das stück »beat of your drum« (2018), das ebenfalls auf dem album »never let me down« zu finden ist.

zwei jahre nach dem reissue von david bowies »changesonebowie« wird 2018 endlich auch »changestwobowie« wieder aufgelegt. »changestwobowie« erschien ursprünglich im november 1981. es handelt sich dabei um ein compilation-album, eine sammlung mit insgesamt zehn songs von bowies karriereanfängen, die es nicht auf den vorgänger geschaffte hatten, darunter klassiker wie »aladdin sane«, »starman«, »1984« und »sound and vision«. »changestwobowie« wurde in den 1980er-jahren nur für eine kurze zeit veröffentlicht. der sampler war bislang auch nie teil einer wiederveröffentlichungsreihe.

beauty and the beast is the latest in the series of special limited edition david bowie 7- picture discs being released and will be out on 5th january 2018, almost 40 years to the day of its original release on 6th january 1978. beauty and the beast was the second single taken from the album heroes, the second of the berlin trilogy albums recorded with tony visconti and brian eno at the legendary hansa studios in berlin. the track also features robert fripp of king crimson on lead guitar, who claims that his guitar was all recorded in his first take. the a-side of the 7- picture disc features the track with newly remastered audio, mixed by long-time bowie collaborator tony visconti. the aa-side is a previously unreleased live version of blackout, recorded live at deutschlandhalle, berlin on 16th may 1978 during the isolar ii tour.
